The Jahjaga Women, Peace, and Security Institute (JWPSI) was established to advance the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda through these results:

  • Establishment of JWPSI

    • Establishment of JWPSI – A dedicated institute on security and defence within the WPS framework, founded by H.E. Atifete Jahjaga, the first woman President in the region. JWPSI builds on her leadership in supporting women in the security sector, survivors of wartime sexual violence, and victims of domestic violence.
  • Knowledge Hub

    • A platform for research and analysis on WPS-related topics, including gender-responsive security sector reform, Euro-Atlantic integration, conflict resolution, GBV, women’s access to justice, climate change, and emerging threats. The Hub will produce at least three in-depth studies annually, published and shared nationally and internationally, ensuring visibility and impact.
  • Capacity Development

    • Empowering women and youth with education, skills development, and leadership training to actively participate in peacebuilding, security, and post-conflict recovery. Capacity-building efforts aim to foster a community of informed and skilled actors who can shape inclusive and sustainable peace.
  • Advocacy and International Collaboration

    • Using evidence-based research to influence policy, strengthen women’s inclusion in peace and security, and shape frameworks at national, regional, and international levels. JWPSI will organize events, policy dialogues, and campaigns, while building strong local and international partnerships.
  • Impact and Vision

    • Contributing to conflict prevention, resilience, and sustainable peace by advancing gender equality, filling knowledge gaps, and positioning women as central actors in peacebuilding and security across Kosovo, the Western Balkans, and beyond.
