The Museum of Survivors of Sexual Violence during the War in Kosovo was established as a powerful initiative to honor and amplify the voices of survivors. The project was officially launched on November 26, 2024, following an agreement signed in August of the same year. Ideated by former President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and Diona Hoxha, the museum was implemented by the Jahjaga Foundation with funding from the German Embassy in Kosovo. Under the curation of Eliza Hoxha, the museum brought together renowned artists such as Ylber Cervadiku and Zake Prelvukaj, who through their art unveiled a piece of Kosovo’s history. Featuring artifacts provided by Medica Gjakova and the Center for the Promotion of Women’s Rights in Drenas, the museum consists of four rooms, each with distinct content. It serves as a space for reflection and awareness, aiming to challenge stigma and empower survivors to share their stories with courage.
